Where Learning Felt Like Love

Of all the classes, courses, and academic experiences throughout my educational journey, the one closest to my heart has been the Master’s in Literature and Cultural Studies at the Department of English, Jahangirnagar University.

When I first looked through the Master’s syllabus in my fourth year, I knew immediately: I belong here. This was where I was meant to be, despite all the other potentially “better” paths I could have taken.

I would sit in class almost like a meditator—listening intently to my teachers, asking questions, taking notes, and sharpening my thoughts through discussions with my wonderful classmates. For me, it felt like a pursuit born purely out of love. I genuinely enjoyed studying, and in that sense, earning first place came almost effortlessly. This one year of my Master’s has opened so many doors to knowledge and new ways of seeing the world.

I am deeply grateful to my teachers, my classmates, and my family. And above all, I want to thank myself—for not giving up.
