I am Tanusree Das, a researcher, writer, educator and lifelong learner from Bangladesh.

My academic background is in English Literature and Cultural Studies. I completed my BA in English and later pursued an MA in Literatures in English and Cultural Studies at Jahangirnagar University. My academic interests have gradually expanded from literary studies toward broader questions of gender, migration, minority experiences, culture, identity, belonging, and displacement.

At the heart of my research is a curiosity about people whose experiences are often simplified, overlooked, or spoken for by others. I am particularly interested in how gender intersects with community, religion, class, family, mobility, memory, and political circumstances. I am drawn to research that can bring together literary and cultural analysis with lived experiences and social realities.

Research & Academia

My current interests include Migration Studies, Gender and Women’s Studies, Minority Studies, Literature and Cultural Studies, and critical approaches to belonging and displacement.

I am especially interested in women’s experiences within minority communities and in the social and cultural forces that shape their choices, mobility, aspirations, and sense of belonging. My research is an evolving journey, and I remain open to new questions, disciplines, methods, and perspectives.

Teaching has been another important part of my academic life. As an educator, I have found that the classroom is not simply a place where knowledge is transferred; it is also a space where perspectives are challenged, questions emerge, and both teacher and student continue to learn.

Writing

Alongside academic work, I write fiction and literary pieces.

I am interested in the intimate worlds of ordinary people—their relationships, silences, memories, desires, contradictions, and the small moments through which larger social realities become visible.For me, fiction is not separate from thinking. Sometimes a story can ask a question that an academic argument cannot.

Dance & Creative Expression

Dance is one of the forms through which I feel most present.It gives me a language beyond words—a combination of movement, rhythm, discipline, emotion, and freedom. My interest in modelling and visual expression has similarly allowed me to explore questions of presentation, confidence, aesthetics, and the relationship between the self and the gaze of others.These creative interests may appear separate from my academic work, but I enjoy allowing seemingly different parts of my life to inform one another.

A Lifelong Learner

Perhaps the simplest way to describe me is as someone who is always learning.I enjoy learning languages, exploring unfamiliar subjects, reading across disciplines, acquiring new skills, travelling, and following questions simply because I want to know where they lead.I don’t believe learning ends with a degree—or even with a particular career.This website reflects that belief.

It is not intended to present a perfectly finished identity. It is a space for an evolving researcher, writer, traveller, dancer, educator, and learner to document the things she discovers, creates, questions, and becomes.

There is still much to learn, much to write, and many places to go.
